[Napoleon's done a bit of snooping around and he is extremely weirded out to see this guy's face. He needs to know more and see if there's any way he can turn this to his advantage and perhaps avoid a face to face conversation for now.]
Am I speaking with the man in charge of the gardens?
[Things Napoleon is doing, taking in his accent and tone. It would be useful to know how to replicate that easily.]
Yes actually. I'm new and just wanted to take a walk in the gardens. Something familiar to help me settle in. Is there any sort of times that it's open to the general public or would it be okay for me to pop in whenever?
[ There's a vague touch of familiarity, but Clark doesn't recognize the sound of his own voice coming from someone else. Their accents are different - Clark is fairly soft-spoken, even over the MID, his voice carrying a hint of midwestern drawl. ]
Whenever you like is fine, the gardens are always open. Just try to read the warning signs - there are some things in there you really shouldn't touch.
[ He's still feeling out his relationship with Clark, it's different from the one he's used to with his version. So when he ends up with a tiny black kitten he messages him. ]
Is it okay to take the cats out of the garden? I found one that seems to like me and it isn't afraid of Wolf.
[ Clark is still feeling this out himself. He knows Conner is his clone - by way of alternate dimensions no less - but he still feels a certain amount of familial responsibility towards him. He doesn't know exactly what to expect, or if he measures up to Conner's version of Superman, certain shortcomings aside, but all he can hope for is the best. ]
Sure. It's better if someone looks after them. [ It's sweet that Conner had such a soft spot for animals. ] Just be careful - if it's anything like Minerva, it'll have you well-trained before you know it.
[ Minerva being the tiny kitten that more-or-less adopted herself into his life. She's an expert at lying down and yelling for pets just out of arms reach. ]
